Service Learning overview

The whole total service learning experience has been a great one for me  it really showed me how important doing work for youth like myself really is. This experience really made not able to wait until next year.  The one thing I loved most about donating my time to foundation which I did not list on my form was the look on every ones face for the first time in an long time I felt as though I belonged. Then after several minutes I was very happy to be there and could not imagine myself doing any thing else. Thats what I thought of my community service time.

Cyndaria blog

I learned that the Cyndaria phylum can take many forms. They can reproduce sexually and asexually. That there are more than 1,000 species of Cyndaria known to man. These are the things I learned about my phylum

Symbols Mice & Men

There were plenty of symbols in the Of Mice & Men such as Candy's dog. Then the next one would have to be Carlson's puppy's. Then the very farm of which they worked.

Candy's dog I believe represented all the dreams of old Candy going up in smoke because he believed well they did that to a old dog how long before they get rid of me. This made him really feel use less and he briefly began to act as if he had nothing left because he was more emotional and not even wanting to go to really be bothered with all of the people on the farm.

Then the  birth of Carlson's pups made Candy feel very uplifted because I guess he just felt like it was new start for everyone on the farm and right after that every began to feel more cheerful they even began to use there free time playing baseball instead of sitting inside playing cards as they usually did.

Then finally the farm on which they stood was I believe a very good symbol because it was what everybody on that farm wanted there own land and there own house and animals to help the farm be successful.

These are the things that I believe where the symbols of the story the birth of Carlson's pups. The death of Candy's dog. Then the farm that they were working on these are the things I believe that were the symbols of the story

Theme (Please Grade)

The book mice and men showed one theme that just seemed to repeat itself over and over again and that is the fraternity of brotherhood it just seemed like every decision was made in an organized fashion by the men.
For instance the shooting of Candy's dog they all sat around playing cards and just came to a conclusion. The men all placed there opinion on what they thought that Candy should do what the dog and they stated what they thought he should do and in the brotherhood majority vote usually wins and you can sort of guess what happened next to Candy's dog.
The next example of brotherhood would have to be the fight with Lennie and Curly they let the fight go on so the two would just finish the dispute and then when the fight was ended the all promised to keep there mouths closed about what had happened on that day.
As you can see the fraternity of brotherhood is a very strong bond  that just unites men all together it involves taking care of the people in brotherhood and making decisions together and everyone may not be happy about the decision but you just have to deal with it. These are the reason I believe the theme Of Mice & Men was the fraternity of brotherhood

Service Learning #3

The last time we were at service learning we talked some more about our individual hours. We also discussed some more about the books we wanted to have added to the library. Discussed ways to approach Dr. Davidson with our ideas. See who had ideas. We also talked about if the books were a little risque for the school library. Then we thought about are these books really okay for the library. Then we thought about if we could be able to get our parents to come and say these books are okay. Then we said bring in our permission slips were due next week

Service learning day 2

My group has decided to let the group leader read some of the books and see if they are acceptable to put into our library. Then we were going to do this program that would help us get individual hours outside of school. The best thing about that idea is that it would take place during school. They have fun activities like testing video games. Battle of the sexes is basically boys asking girls questions and girls doing the same. It's like a debate club. Then there is also educational clubs that get you ready for college like the chance to meet college freshman and ask them question

Service Learning (library)

In the fourty five minutes of service learning we talked about ways to get new books like writing a letter to certain companies to see if they would give us some of the books that the teachers and the students thought the kids would like. Then we thought maybe we could ask Dr. Davidson could we do certain things to get the money for the books. Then we wrote a list of books we enjoyed and thought everybody would like. Then we just talked about other ways raise money. Then we went over what happened in our meeting

Character Development Empire of the Sun

At the start of the movie the main character Jim was a very innocent boy had everything a young would want and a mansion to put all in. He even had servants, chefs, and even a driver. Then after the war started he didn't know what to do and then ran into a man who have a big reason for his charter development. Well his friend Bassie who would teach him how to fend for his self and to hustle to get what you want also taught he taught him how to steal. The main character went through a lot of changes but I think that the whole war made him a man at the end. The reason I say this is because he went from a boy who knew nothing about the world to a little with not all the knowledge in the world but a better idea of what the world is about.

Chapter 6 analysis

Consists of Bigger lying to the police about the murder of a white girl. Then tries to cover it up acting like dumb a black boy so they would not think it was him.

Evauluation

Is there better solution to dealing with Bigger?

I guess that there could be but I know that the way he needs to learn is to be scared and shown that he could be better than what he is.

Synthesis

Why don't I devise a plan to deal with Bigger?

I think Bigger should go to jail and learn what will happen if you break the law so he will not be tempted to do anything when he gets out. I think that will make him act different.

Analysis

Can I compare my life to the life of  Bigger?

No I don't beileve our life is anything alike because the family is different he has no role models. The only thing similar is the neighborhood but the camparison basically shows him getting it worse.

Application

What question would I ask Bigger if I knew him?

I would ask him does he think if he did not grow up in a bad neighborhood would he have turned better?

Comprehension

What do you think the differences are between Bigger and Gus?

I think Gus is a little more soft spoken than Bigger and doesn't pretend to be something he's not.
Bigger on the other hand pretends to be tough is a good liar and isn't really sure who he is.

Knowledge

What happened after Bigger caught the rat?

His mother began telling him that he was basically worthless and would not amount to nothing.

chapter3 analysis

Chapter 3 consisted of Bigger and Gus arguing about the robbery that bigger wanted to commit. Him and Gus began arguing back and fourth about should they go because he knew Bigger was really scared. Then after bigger makes Gus scared with the knife they end up saying there going to go do the robbery

Chapter 1 analysis

Chapter one just showed you the place Bigger lived and how life was. Even though they tried to make it seem as though it was about the rat it wasn't it was just used to show you the relationship between Bigger and his family to show you that Bigger was all alone even in his own house

NHD

Nhd was a great experience I learned a lot and I was really intrested in it. I did a paper on Al Capone which showed how much money he made and how he survived in bootlegging and why he was known as was one of the most dangerous person in the 1930's. If I could do this again I would have chosen to do a board because I feel as though I had a project that should have been on a board and didn't use every bit of info at my fingertips
